各位Ching，我两个星期前装左PCCW 300M 寛频，但系经Router之后得返40M，请问大家知唔知我部老爷Macbook最多可以行到几多M，我个Router系TP-Link TL WR841ND。先谢指教。

Router is good up to 300mbps but 2.4Ghz only...

I think the MB 2009 is good up to 150mbps only.

As for the service provider, do they mean 300MB or 300mbps?

300mbps. I have checked the speed by OFCA already. The speed is only 26mbps. So sad.

I checked this after installation. It is 270mbps. I have asked a sales in Golden Centre today and he said the router may have some problems. Now the speed is just 24mbps.

So what is the speedtest result when you are on wire connection? Wire is giga so you should able to get full strength.

Forum 十个 Wifi 问题有九个用呢两个牌子。流行? 价廉? 唔识讲。

要 upgrade 要睇机底编号来对应 ver 咁原始?

我屋企人,唔识买就咁买了个tp link,我上网系200m部野系150m上限(行官方firmware),部netbook行到5xm,用开又无咩问题,收货啦(desktop用lan线插返modem算)

想问系唔系唔可以在 web browser 192.xxx.xx.xx 果度显示 serial /firmware version? and 唔可以在喺果度 "check for update" 而后 jump to new tab to download?

玩非官方firmware....

有咁醒就已经可以就咁用官方 fireware 或 settings 改善啦！

可以,update都要用佢
我用的旧型号无呢个功能........(要自己上网睇)

呢条系"后路",官方firmware未必唔好,非官方firmware系用来"行尽D机能"或万一官方firmware唔再出新版firmware而问题(兼容问题),都有"保障"

我个部已经几年无出新官方firmware,暂时都重无问题,唔需要用非官方firmware

Now get back on the wifi, stand next to the router.

Do another speedtest and hold the option key then press the wifi icon on the taskbar, let me know the result and transmit rate?

130mbps for the wifi speed, so you will never meet 300mbps with this wireless router.

Are you standing right next to the wireless router when you get that #?

But they claim it can go up to 300mbps...

EDIT:

It could be the Macbook wireless card limited to 150mbps only... you might want to google for the full specs to confirm that.

不过我部netbook上网lan线上限好彩得100m,wifi应该都差唔多,算唔算系不幸中之大幸.........

另外，我Macbook系行Mac OS X 10.6.8，系唔系setup唔到？upgrade到Mavericks又惊部老爷Macbook顶唔顺....

TC is a good investment. Look at how long N last... AC should last for years.

And none of the PC-home router is as good as Apple.

But your laptop might be limited at 300mbps.

Don't expect you will get a big jump, for example Apple might only give you ~50mbps download per second and you can't use all your bandwidth in this case, but it is good to have bigger bandwidth so you can multi-download!

In your case, it feels like 妹仔(TC2013)大过主人(MB2009).

EDIT: latest TC support all the a/b/g/n, no matter how old, pc/mac/smartphone.

I did a Mavericks installation for a 2009 mbp last week, she doesn't need to backup any data, so I did a clean install Mountain Lion on it first then upgraded to Mavericks.

She has a SSD on it but 2GB ram only.

It is still worth it to invest on a C2D Mac laptop, max the memory and get a 240GB SSD, if none of the hardware seems acting up.

I have a '09 2.4GHz C2D Al Macbook and for sure it supports 5 G wifi and 100/1000 ethernet.
On Wifi network, max transmit rate can go up to 270M on 5G. It could never go to theoretical 300M due to chipset design at that time.
About 2 yrs ago I upgraded to SSD, and it is pretty fast running on Marvicks. I am satisfied. Now it is in my China office.

To check ethernet connection speed, go to Network Utility.

谢谢楼上三位师兄，今日就买Time Capsule。

I wanted to buy new rams (2X 2G) to my Macbook 2 years ago. But the rams are expensive ($300 each) and some sales told me that they may not work in my Macbook. So I decided not to upgrade it. I will consider to buy a SSD harddisk or buy a new Macbook Pro later. I am very excited to have a Time Capsule. Haha.

Go for Crucial's ram & SSD, check the amazon.com's reviews.

For the TC, think about the refurbished unit, who cares the retail box?

Report. Marvericks installed. Memory used a little bit larger than 10.6.8. But for Safari, it is much faster.

zzz99 ching, is refurbished TC a used one? Will it also have a 1-year warranty?

Very happy to have a new system now. Buy TC immediately.
