ML finder network drive search 问题

有部 qnap nas, 用 mac ML finder 系 nas search file 好有问题, 时work 时吾work. 网上有人话用 cifs map shared drive 会好d, 自己试过又吾觉. 请问有乜方法系 nas search 野会好d? thx.

Have you ever tried re-index the sporlight index on the network drive?

I follow following step to reindex some folder in my nas. but when i dragged network shared folder into the privacy tab, it didn't do anything for me. like i said, the network search works sometime but sometime not.

for instance, when i want to search all the .mp3 file in network drive and type "mp" in the search box, it sometime will show the result, but sometime it won't. same as typing "mp3". it is just strange.

No, it is a little more complex then this.

You have to enable it via command.

1: make sure network drive is mounted , for this example my network drive name is called "shared", replace with whatever your network share is...

2: open terminal, type mdutil /Volumes/Shared -i on

3: verify indexing is on for volume in terminal again by typing mdutil /Volumes/Shared -s
results should say indexing enabled for volume shared

4: now either use Onyx and rebuild the spotlight index, or in terminal issue a mdutil /Volumes/Shared - E (this will erase and rebuild the spotlight index with your newly included destination

even though i am familiar with mac terminal and line command, but it is out of the question in the year of 2013 asking any user who just want to search files in network mapped drive.
i have read some posts online, seems like many users over the world are having this annoying issue like me for years. saddest part is apple don't seems to give a damm about it.
ps. this network mapped drive search works intermittently.

网上揾到一个 work 嘅方法, 就系用 qfinder connect 去 qnap NAS. works beautifully.
