Matthew Dillon has announced the release of DragonFly BSD1.12, a BSD operating system originally forked from FreeBSD 4 in orderto develop a radically different approach to concurrency, SMP, and mostother kernel sub-systems. "We are happy to say thatthe 1.12 release is now available! This release is primarily amaintenance update. A lot of work has been done all over the kernel anduserland. There are no new big-ticket items though we have pushed theMP lock further into the kernel. The 2.0 release is scheduled formid-year. Of the current big-ticket item work, the new HAMMERfilesystem is almost at the alpha stage of development and is expectedto be production ready by the mid-year 2.0 release."
