DirectoryIndex的顺序问题？极度困惑！

apache 2.2
操作系统及PHP版本:Linux / PHP v5.1.6

在httpd.conf里设置了DirectoryIndex index_new.html index.html index.htm index.php index.html.var

在一个目录下里存在有index_new.html 和index.php两个文件，按理说，在我输入http://www.name.com/dir/后，应该出来index_new.html才对，可是出来的却是index.php
如果把文件index_new.html改成index.htm和index.php放在同一个目录，这回访问http://www.name.com/dir/，出来的是index.htm了，但当我点此页面中的index.php的链接时，奇怪的现象再次发生，地址显示跳转到了index.php，但是内容却还是index.htm。

搞了一个晚上，也没有明白！
