【求助】About SCIM 1.0.1+SCIM-Chinese-0.4.2

I'm a beginner of linux and lost my IME...
So,i can not type in Chinese for three days,also for this question...

i have got the following sourecode:
1.SCIM 1.0.1
2.SCIM-Chinese-0.4.2

Pre:
      I place two sources' directory in /usr/scim1.0.1 and /usr/scim-chinese-0.4.2

Step1:
      I compiled SCIM1.01 and "make install" done.i'm sure it's       running ok,because when i can see the interface of scim-setup in X.

Step2:
      I type :"./configure " in bash.
      Then bash shows following info:

Perhaps you should add the directory containing `scim.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'scim' found

To solute this, i searched some linux studying site...
someone told me run " ./configure --prefix=/usr"
I did so,and error also...

And i can found the file"scim.pc" in directory "/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig";[/COLOR]


#A more question here:
When i've compiled and installed a program successfully,can i delete the source directory?[/COLOR]

1 scim的源码不要放到/usr/scim-xxx下面，在用户目录下面最好，编译之后可以删除
2 configure scim时加上 --prefix=/usr
