I used slackware in english for more than a year without any problem, recently I just get interested to make my slackware to a brand new system with Chinese support and perhaps full chinese system..

So, I am curious is there any reference that guide newbies to create a chinese based Slackware environment ?

is a complete chinese environment, but look at the GIMP program, the menu displayed weird characters...what was that ??

my gimp seems ok....
i don't think it's a good idea to make your slackware to a full chinese system, but you can try to allow some normal users to use the chinese interface.
try don't to change too much default scripts, it may cause the instability of the system; but you can create some system configuration files yourself and put them to the users' home directory.

Thanks a lot, so is it concluded that it is not recommended to set the entire system to be chinese based ?

By the way, I am confused that where the term chinese based environment is included the virtual console, or just the X windows system (where refer as xterm, rxvt and etc...etc..)

An example should figure out the question:

1. A non X environment..plain terminal..is it works as well ?

Sorry if you think I am a noob, I never used any chinese packages in *nix or either linux..

it is not concluded that it is not recommended to set the entire system to chinese, it's just a personal viewpoint.
for a no x environment, you can use zhcon:

anyway, try to post in chinese here, you will get more responses
