我在ubuntu下不能很好的使用skype,下面是老外的解决方法,本人e文不好,大家帮忙看一下,告诉我大概是什么意思.谢谢了!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

I've just installed a new ubuntu (Hoary). And try Skype.
The .deb is working (after installing qt). I launch it, everything work. Until i'm trying to get or to phone someone.
It's writen: connecting... but nothing happen. Then i can't stop the call (the red button doesn't work), but everything else is still working...
I don't hear anything too.

the http_proxy environment variable is set (in the terminal from where i launch skype)

I've tried to use older version.
Try to switch to alsa (i think alsa is also compiled... i only switch it in the Gnome Volume manager)

Try running "killall esd" before starting skype.

I think that esdound is locking the sound device, I am having the same problems on a Dell Latitude at the moment.

It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VLC that didn't worked, works too.

But totem doesn't work anymore...
Could you give me the command to relaunch esd.
Have you found a solution more elegant?

Ok, i should have read more the FAQ...
esddsp works good
The package esound-clients
Code:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install esound-clients


must be installed. And then only run "esddsp skype" instead of "skype" (or add Code:
alias skype="esddsp skype"
in your ~/.bashrc)

(for vlc, you don't need esddsp, just install the package vlc-esd)

ok, some progres on skype and ubuntu hoary

follow the instructions at http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=8882 and then start skype normaly (ie, without esddsp that's not working in any case )

I can now use skype without killing esd, bit I still lose all other sounds while using skype.

Running SUSE 9.2 Pro. and Fedora Core 2.
Skype was running well in SUSE until I upgraded it.
Both have the same problems.
What do I have to do?

I ran suse9.2 Pro until last week. Nothing wrong with it, just wanted to try ubuntu and I'm loving it

Had no problems with skype on suse. Try running it with Code:
artsdsp -m skype
.

esddsp skype

是可以打开skype,但是不能和对方打电话,说/dev/dsp-1 资源暂时不可用.

这是为什么?????

有谁在ubuntu下面用skype???
