Can I ask a stupid question?How to speed up the Mandriva 2006 System?

Maybe the question is very very stupid that I should not ask,But In my computer,I find the Mandriva 2006 runs slower than RedHat and RedFlag when I installed it a few days ago.So I ask here for some advice on how to resolve this problem.If anyone do have any method about it,Please discuss here.Thanks a lot!

ok
you can speed up your mandriva 06 like this
NO.1 uninstall kat
NO.2 stop some service you don't need
NO.3 close ipv6 support
NO.4 if your program need 3d support , you should install driver of your display from the Extra-Plugins CD.

try "urpme kat" to uninstall kat;
also I want to know how to disable ipv6 support.

I use command "urpmq ipv6"
then it show me:

iptables-ipv6
xinetd-ipv6

So,maybe we should disable the iptables service! Yes????

停掉IPV6会提升很大吗？
教育网好像就是用IPV6

su root
gedit /etc/ modprobe.conf
#add next tow line to your modprobe.conf
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off
#reboot
