屏幕常常出现冻结，但与gdm无关

我也常出现屏幕冻结，键盘鼠标都不能动，大概一般持续5秒钟左右。
一般下面一些情况时常出现：
1. 使用xmessage，几乎每次都有。
2, 在firebird开另一个tab，偶尔有。
3, rxvt 后带比较多的参数，如字体等，偶尔有。
但我并没有装gdm，实际上是kde和gnome都没装，我用的是startx启动x，窗口管理器是fvwm2.5.8
有哪位知道解决办法，告诉咱一声。
呵呵，我也是昨天才开始用的slackware，以前用了半年的mandrake.

我的冻结更严重，有时候鼠标一动不动，ctrl + alt + backspace也没有反应……就是死机了……只有重起……以前从来没有过的……我怀疑是我的硬盘有问题（可能有坏道）。

Mozilla/Firebird have this kind of problems when display webpage that contains Chinese characters, especially Traditional Chinese characters. In fact, Mozilla/Firebird occupy 100% CPU and X is freezed for a while. If you wait for 5-30 seconds, display will restore automatically after the webpage is successfully rendered.

No problem with firebird actuially, I am using nightly build 1219, flash plugin installed, sometime firebird will run into a little trouble with a java especially ms java script web page, but anyway it runs fast and stably.
Your problem may link to one certain leak of memory, so check your harddisk, your memory, or if neccessary, remake swap partition and reacitivated your swap partition that could solve your problem.
