fam how to..., HELP???

I'm a newbie about Linux.
Because I need MAYA 7, but it need fam (File Alteration Monitor)...!
I download it from SGI and tried to compile by myself, but it's failed...
SGI said 'dnotify' supported officially, but I'm failed again after install and reboot...

Ps. I uninstall scim to prevent crash with MAYA, so I can't type Chinese again... : (
My Linux is Mandriva Powerpack 2006.

你可以用FCITX打字的，不需要用SCIM

上面的说明好象可以让你继续下去的啊。不过这方面我也不懂

My Linux using en_HK.UTF8 to install by default, how can I change this??
I'm affair that if FCITX crash my Maya like scim crash Arcbat PDF...

请用LOCALDRAK，在系统设置菜单里（英文是这个，繁体中文就不清楚了。）

不知道在终端直接打localdrak如何？

如果原始核心是 K , 顯卡 是 N, SCSI 硬碟是 S
先後兩次經過 ./configure ; make ; make install 的工序,
是不是變成 KNS 的新核心??
或者是必先修改 N 及 S 的原始碼設置才一次過
編譯成為 KNS 的新核心呢??
有沒有網上資料可以搜索參考...?? 再一次謝謝 !!!

显卡和其他的驱动程序都可以在你当前使用的内核中插入的，倘若一些驱动必须内核某方面支持的话，你就必须先重新修改配置甚至编译一下你的内核了。驱程大概就像一个包袱，你可以随时放下，也可以换一个然后背上。而且现在有DKMS -- 一个Dell支持的项目，把硬件的驱动程序从内核中剥离，单独成为一个分支，易于保持某些硬件驱动的连贯性。以上都是我的理解，说得不对请大家指正。

以NVIDIA的显卡为例，官方的驱动程序好象（是好象）是以现有内核的原码为例针对现有内核编译适合的驱动，再挂载上去的。而不是修改现有内核的主体内容。如果是内核本来就支持的设备就不用考虑这些了。

我也是新人，就了解这么多。

忙著 Maya 的事來晚了,不過夜來弄了幾天,
開始有一點點的概念,Linux 也應用的順手多了,
視窗慣性使用習慣使人忘記了它的真正背後,
現在有了一點點的重拾自主的感覺...
