Div的高度怎么自动设置？

dom结构大体如下：
<div style="width:900px; height:auto" class="container">
  <div style="float:left; width:200px; height:200px;"></div>
  <div style="float:left; width:200px; height:200px;"></div>
  <div style="float:left; width:200px; height:200px;"></div>
......中间的数量不定
  <div style="float:left; width:200px; height:200px;"></div>
</div>

想给container加上边框，但是发现它的height一直是0.
后来发现，auto只是累加div中不浮动的元素高度。
请问，像这种情况(div里全是float的元素)，应该怎么让height自动更新？
