The DPOps team supports the infrastructure, software processes and end users of
approx 40 middle to back office trade processing systems in the fixed income department of Morgan Stanley.

The position will be part of a team of 4 people in Shanghai working in a global team which operate a follow the sun model to ensure systems and users are supported continually. Although the team currently does not exist in Shanghai there is a team of developers which will work closely with this new team. The position involves answering hotline calls and fielding support tickets from end users, monitoring system processes and infrastructure and over see batch processing.

Although business knowledge is not an essential skill support of the end users inevitably leads to this knowledge being acquired. The position offers an interesting mix of business and technical aspects.

Skills Required
• Experience of working in an IT support role. Handling hotline calls and responding to user queires.
• Excellent communication skills
• Perl: Ability to write a perl program from scratch and ability to understand existing scripts by looking at them. Understanding of object-oriented design and perl data structures. Familiarity with several of the more popular CPAN modules.
• Unix / Linux: Experience working as a unix system administrator or experience troubleshooting in a unix environment. Power user of either VI or Emacs.
• SQL/Databases: Understanding of tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures, and the ability to understand them by reading their definitions. Familiarity with SQL constructs. Understanding of transactions, query plan analysis and database troubleshooting. Ability to create database maintenance jobs as needed and deploy them seamlessly into production.
• General Software Skills: Understanding of source code management concepts and experience with at least one source code control tool. Ability to debug and troubleshoot code by examining logs, using debuggers, etc. Ability to locate and understand software documentation.
• Autosys: Ability to create and debug Autosys jobs and dependencies. Ability to analyze a complex job stream and correct any inconsistencies, errors or omissions and point out potential problems.

Skills Desired
• Finance: Any knowledge of finance or experience in the financial industry will be beneficial.
