Macbook 换hard drive

想请问我部机系09年中小白，如果想换hard drive ,行唔行到sata 3架？？感谢

可以照用,
市面上亦已经冇乜 SATA2 HHD 可买

I had my MacBook in 2009 model, and I did the below in 2012 Dec. If you are unsure abt the SATA compatibility, do remove the harddrive from your old Mac, and bring it to the computer shop in Shamshuipo and ask the shopkeepers.

But if I did it today again, I may choose a SSD (solid state drive) of 500GB or abv, which should run faster and more reliable than the old kind of magnetic harddrive.

I hv bought a 2.5 inch 500G hard drive, and did the clone on it (see the steps below). The Hitachi hard drive is around $600.

1) connect the 2.5 inch 500G hard drive to a USB external case
2) go to the disk utility in my Mac, and "erase" the new external harddisk to format the new drive. It takes around 1 min.
3) switch off all the screen saver, power saver in my Mac, and put the lightness down to min
4) run the carbon copy clonner in my MacBook, and use the default settings in the carbon copy clonner
5) for around 250 Gbyte harddrive, it takes around 3.5 hr to be cloned. The turning off of the power saving in my Mac can ensure my Mac doesn't sleep during the 3.5 hours
6) Switch off the Mac power, open the bottom screws. There are 2 screws fixing the internal harddisk position, just remove the screws.
7) Replace the old with the new harddrive then done. Easy, but need preparation and the proper screw drivers.

Check list:
* a new 2.5" harddisk, with a USB external hard case
* disk utility (come with the Mac OS) to format the new hardisk
* Carbon copy clonner (free) downloaded with default setting to the MacBook
* screw driver to remove the 6 screws at the bottom of MacBook
* a hex key (hexagon screw driver) to remove the 4 hex screws on the sides of the original Mac harddisk
