I plan to buy an external monitor for my rMBP (mid-2012).

But it seems that there is a problem for the rMBP to recognise the external monitor (e.g Dell) as a monitor. Instead, rMBP recongises it as a TV and output YCbCr and the image quality is affected.

Does any Ching also have this problem.

Dell have reasonable good customer service....last time I took my MBP to the Dell retail outlet (not in a busy hour) and ask to try and connect before I buy.

I'm using Dell 2913 with rMBP. no problem at all

Dell has several in HK, in fact.
It's more like a showroom where you can play with their stuff; then place an order.
