Can SIM card be cut to nano size for Iphone 5 ?

Most links on the net said it is possible. The salesman at the Apple authorized retailers told me that it cannot be done because the it would ruin the chip. Has anyone tried and succeeded ?

yes, i did it twice. Using a printable template from the net and a decent pair of scissors.

It's a good idea to sand it anyways to clean up the back and to get nice result, sand it BEFORE you cut it.
when it's small its difficult to sand.
