I think they want transparency for their customers who are waiting for the upgrade.

Flashing 3rd party rom usually will not be as stable as the official rom for the device.

Errrr... there are just too many Android devices in the market these days.

Just like IBM/Sony/Acer/HP/Dell/Gateway/Compaq... back then in the PC market, when the profit is down to 50bucks per each PC... then some company will be gone... or like BB :x Nokia :X

Yes, there are too many Android devices causing fragmentation nowadays. one of the reasons I believed is because the open source nature of Android so everyone can give a shot to modify it and kinda became their "own" version of android.

Some companies like samsung already developing their own OS (i.e., Tizen) in the long run, android can never become as smooth as iOS because of some early decisions in the source code

lol I would only consider Nexus devices in my opinion so I can still get upgrade around 2-3 years.

So am I... but the look of the Nexus 7 is... too... plain... And the build quality is... -.-;

And the Nexus 10 price is way too high.

I owned a nexus 7 2013 version, the build quality is pretty good. But one of the pain is that I have been a Mac and iPhone user quite a while and get used to many mac exclusive apps so I can't really get the most of it. In android you have to be really patient in tuning almost every settings and the settings are really complicated in contrast to Apple's.

I had the first generation and my friend also had that... he broke the screen within a month... without dropping it...

Speaking of the Play store... I still have 25bucks gift card from the Nexus 7 first gen., I have no chance to use it LOL

I really want a 7-10" Android tablet, to use it as a media player in car~ iPad Air is perfect but too costly for just that purpose.

You can think about ipad mini non-retina lol

But I have to admit the app quality on the play store is really.... even some well-known apps like Feedly is quite laggy on Android.

Ahhh... I can't go back to non-retina... I could get a iPad 2 cellular version 16GB for less than US$200... but... I could tell the different by my eyes... -.-;

I can tell the difference from ipad 2 but the ipad mini is too small for me to really see the difference. maybe my eyes are not tht good lol
